Happy 223rd Birthday, Constitution!
Today, the Constitution is 223 years old. It is the oldest Constitution in the world. Think about two of the rights we studied today: habeas corpus and trial by jury.
What might things be like in the United States if we didn't have those rights?
Alot of differtnt things would happened if we did'nt have those writes. One is that more and more peolple would have to be in jail for no resan. In addition some peolpe would probably in jail just by looking at them & its probably not them.
IF WE DIDNT HAVE MAGNA CARTA AND HABEUS CORPUS PEOPLE WILL BE BLAMED FOR NO REASON AND THROWN IN JAIL AND STAY THERE.AND IF WE DIDNT HAVE MAGNA CARTA THE NOBLES WOULDNT HAVE RIGHTS
P.6 ariana r. & eduardo r. our jail would be full and people who do not deserve to be in jail will be in jail . it would also mean that the people dont have power. If we dont have habeas corpus we wont have trail by jury and if that happens peope will just sit in jail.
It would be a bad thing for all of us. Innocent people would go to jail for things they didn't commit, and they would be forgotten forever. People wouldn't have the right for a trial. The ruler would take advantage of people without Parliaments consent. The ruler would take land or money away from people which would make them very mad. That is why these rights are important to us all.
The United States would be bad because a lot of people would be in jail. They would be in jail because they don't have the right to have a trail and they wont defend themselves. They just sit in jail and the would not have the right to go home or have a trail. So you would be stuck in jail for a long time.
If we didn't have the right to habeas corpus we could end up going to jail for some crime you never did. If we didn't have the right to a trial by jury alot of people would end up in jail for things they aren't guilty of committing.
p6 luis.m gabriela m. / it would be very unfair because you would be charged for something you did not commite. The freedom of jury gives you the right to a fair trial with a jury
P6 Carlos L. What things would be if we did not have those rights is that people would be thrown in jail for no reason ,and the jails right know would be packed, and there would no be space for the real crimals, and they would be loose doing bad stuff.
p6 Faith tenorio F.T. If we didn't have the rights to habeas corpus and trial by jury thing would be out of order. without habeas corpus cops would be able to put peole in jail without a reason; innocent people could be punished for no reason.
The unitd states would be very unfair, and lot of people would be unhappy. The united states would be a bit corrupt. There wouldnt be many people in the united states.
P6 Graciela M and Lulu L. If we didn't have those rights, people would be in jail for no good reason and they wouldn't have a right to either be charged for the crime or go home because they didn't commit a crime.
United States would probaly be unorganized and full of craziness. People would be protesting against it, which can cause damage to city, can harm many people, and make life harder for everybody. We wouldn't want to be treated so harsh, which these rights prevent. We wouldn't also want to be robbed by the king/president or lose money for no reason.
P6 Emily P., Michelle P. If we didn't have those rights we would be in jail for no good reason and we wouldn't be able too defend ourselves. The citizens wouldn't have any control what so ever and the president woud have done what ever he would've wanted without asking.
Poeple will be thrown in jail for no reason because they wont be able to have the right to a jury. People would also get their land or money taken away for no reason.
