The Great Awakening


After taking your "tour" of the Joseph Bellamy Home in Bethlehem, Conn., answer the following questions from reading 1:

1. What problems with the Congregational Church troubled Jonathan Edwards? What actions did he take to solve those problems?

2. Who was George Whitefield? How did he inspire a religious revival in the American colonies?

3. What was the Great Awakening? How did it appeal to common people?

    1) jonathan edwards was a making a small religious group but in 1735 the group was starting to die down.

    2) george whitefield was a young charismatic english methodist preacher. he said that the people wil go to hell if hey dont have gods salvation

    1. People were losing thier religious faith, devotion, and beliefs in God;so Jonathan Edwards talked with audiences and told them about their problem therefor they began to feel bad which helped increase their faith in God.
