Dred Scott: How difficult is it to become a naturalized US citizen?

As you have read, in the 1857  Dred Scott decision, the Supreme Court ruled that Scott, as an African-American, did not have the right to sue (called standing) in a federal court because African-American slaves were not US citizens. Nine years after Dred Scott, the 14th amendment defined citizenship to include everyone born or naturalized in the United States.

How difficult is it to become a naturalized US citizen? Visit the link to read about the  steps to citizenship. Then respond to these two questions:

1. What are the two steps in the process that you consider most essential? Why are they important?
2. What are the two steps that are least important? Why are they not important?

; Get fingerprints taken for FBI criminal background check. is one good thing because you never know if that person is bad or a kill or any thing bad like that!!
;another is that you Have to take photographs because the you couldnt act or try to copy some one else personilty.
2.
; one of the less good thing is that you Receive an appointment letter from the INS for fingerprinting. If six months pass, your documents likely have been lost and you must reapply which is a really long time two wait.
; Wait for INS to schedule an interview; the wait can often be longer than a yea again is a REALLY REALLY long time to wait!!!!!.

2.)The two least important ones are numbers 7 and 9 because they dont help in the begging they help when it is already done.

1. What are the two steps in the process that you consider most essential? Why are they important?
Get fingerprints taken for FBI criminal background check.Check that no criminal can enter the nation.Complete the ten-page Application for Naturalization because

2. What are the two steps that are least important? Why are they not important? Have two photographs taken.Because that realy doesn't matter as long as the border officer can type your name and could be found in the computer taken in the meeting they gave you.Send the application, photos, documents, and fee to the appropriate service center you can give them in the meeting and not send them.

1.)The two steps most important steps are lying to gain immigration benifits because they should be free, and prostitution because they shouldn't be selling their bodies to strangers and also because it's bad.
2.)The two least important are drunkness because people always get drunk and also polygamy the practice or custom of having more than one wife or husband at the same time.

document that require of legal resident of at least three year and you need alot of document photos, fingerprint for ID.

#2) the two steps in the process that you consider most establish is a marriage certificate, and a ID.

1.)The two steps in the process that i consider most essential is to get finger prints for FBI criminal backround and to have pictures taken of the person. I think its important so that way they can have identity of the new citizen or the person who just became a citizen.
2.) The two least important ones are to have the INS for fingerprinting if they lost your papers or documents and to receive an appointment for an interview, the reason why I think they are least important because I dont really think theres a point for this for what do they want to get to know them better.

1. Collect other necessary documents.
- A photocopy of both sides of the Permanent Resident Card
- A check or money order for the $260 processing fee.

Other documents that may be required:
- Proof that a spouse has been a legal resident for at least three years

- Certification of military service
- Copies of court or government orders to provide financial support
- Official records involving prior criminal charges

2. Receive an appointment letter from the INS for fingerprinting. If six months pass, your documents likely have been lost and you must reapply.

-The two steps that are most important are: Any crime against a person with intent to harm & terrorist acts these are the most important because you should not be able to hurt people.

-The two least important steps are Illegal gambling & Prostitution because they are not very harmful to people and you don't have to do them if you don't want to.

1. I think that they are step 1 and step 6. Because step 1 like the person needs to fill out the information so they could know about that person. And then the 6th step is for whenever the FBI goes to the persons house so the FBI could know that the person is a citizen.

2. I think the least important ones are step 2 and step 7. Step 2 because why do people really need 2 photos. And then step 7 cause why do they need an interview with the person thats gonna become a citizen.

The most essential thing that i think is important is the part of prostitution if you want to be taken seriously as a citizen you should not sell your body no offence but seriously.another important thing is dont try to bomb the country that you are trying to immigrate to.

2. I think the least important thing to become an american citizen is number eight because you have to take some many test to prove that you read english and write, speak. And you would also have to take a civics test and even additional documents may apply.

1.I think the most important steps were official records involving pior criminal charges and a photocopy of both sides of the permanent resident card. They are both important because they should know if you did a bad thing in the past and because if you loose it you could have a copy so u could make a new one.
2.The most least important are a marriage certificate and income tax returns. They are both not imporant because they dont need to know if your married or not and they dont also need to know about your taxes.

The most important things about the 9 steps to become a natural citizen is to get fingerprints taken for FBI crimial background because if your a criminal and not born in the U.S you should not be alowed to be a citizen cause there a lot of terrorist. It is also important to have your two photographs taken for your idenification because you could give your name and they could know who you are.

1.We think that the most essential process is #6.Get finger prints take for FBI criminal backround check, and #4.Send the applicaton, photo, documents, and fee to the appropiate service center because they have to know what kind of criminal things you have been doing in yor life, and you have to send your information to the right place or you wont get your citizenship.
2.The least important process is #7 wait for ins to schedule an interview and wait for a reply. i think that you ont have to wait that long just to be a citizen and #9. it has to be a decision people who have no criminl record could get there citizenship.

1. "Get fingerprints taken for FBI criminal background check."
It's good that you get a finer printing because you could have a criminal record or be a threat to society.
2." Receive an appointment for an interview. Applicants must take an English test to prove they can read, write, and speak English. They must also take a civics test. Applicants may be required by INS to provide additional documents."
It's important to know how to talk, write, and read English so that you know how to take the test.

1."Complete the ten-page Application for Naturalization (Form N_ 400) "
It' not important to take the application because it's just stating rules.
2."Have two photographs taken."
It'n not important because back then it was expensive to take pictures, and if the governtment has the firger printing it's not impstant to have a picture.

1. We believe the most important steps in becoming a U.S. citizen are Steps 3 and 8. It's crucial to have a backround check before aplying therefor complete the documents. It's also imporant to hold knowledge of reading, writing, and speaking English, otherwise how would you even complete the documents anyway?

2. The least important steps we believe are Steps 5 and 7. Those steps just require you to wait for a letter.

1. We think the 2 most important steps are step 2 and 8. Step 2 is important because you need to have photos so just in case people want to find you or so you can have them on legal documents. Step 8 is important because when people interview you it's because they want to know stuff about you. It's important because they want to know what type of person you are and make sure you are not a threat to others.

2. The least important steps are when you have to wait for an interview and the step when you have to complete a ten page Application for Naturalization form. Step 7 is weird because why do you have to wait for an interview. Step 1 gives you a application that is way too long.

1.Step 1 because you have to fill out form to start the process. And step 6 because they have to check your background and so nobody can impersonate you.

2.Step 7 because you cant do anything about it you have no control over it.And Step 5 because you have no control over it INS does.

A marriage certificate

Get fingerprints taken for FBI criminal background check.
so they can prove that you are not a criminal.
so they can find outb that you been living in america for at least 3 years and know the requierments 4 america

1. Get fingerprints for FBI criminal background, and filling the ten page application of naturalization so we don't have terrorist as citizens and so we can know all their information.

2. Taking two paragraphs after getting a ten-page report I mean why not just ask for 2 paragraphs if they are only going to ask for 1 or ask for all 10 pages and waiting a year for an interview with the INS are both the least important steps because they are a waste of time.

1. i think that one of the most important steps of process is sending the other documents that may be required also. also i think that the second most important step is making sure you recieve the letter from the INS that way you know if you need to reaply or not. these steps are important because the documents that may be required are important documents and the letter that way they know wheither to reaplly or not.

2. i think that one of the least important steps of process is takig the test thing so that they can be assured that they can read write and spek in engish. also i think that another step that is not very important is taking the pictues. these to steps are not really important because the test is just english tests and i dont think being fluetlly english means your american. and then the pictures are important just because they dont mean nothing,

I tink that these documents are important because they need to know who you are and if you have done bad things in other countries and you need photos because they need to know who you are.
2.The two least ones are to have two photographs taken and to Receive an appointment letter from the INS for fingerprinting and If six months pass, your documents likely have been lost and you must reapply. These are not important because it is not necessary to take 2 photos all you need is one and the 2nd reason is is if they lose yor paper you should be prepared to reapply.

1. The two steps in the process that I think are more important are 9 and 3. 9 say's that you'll get the decision if of being granted, continued, or denied. It's great that you get granted because you get to get so many thing, so many rights, or ablicashiones. If you get continued then you'll you getting to a bad start. It's good to now in what pace your at. 3 say's you'll be able to get necessary documents. In these document it sayes your backround information, what you work on, legal resident. Things that are use full.

2. 6 & 2 are not important because 2 say's that you will have to get two photographs taken. But that information is already included in your documents. So you don't have to take a photo again. Also why would a person take their fingerprints taken again if in their document it has that data already. Doing things all over again dose not make sense. Information is already in documents.

Fingerprints for FBI
8. get an interview. to lern English: important to be able communicate with all other citizens.
Because that information can be used for any criminal action in the future, Without the fine they wouldn't let you process your paperwork.
~ 2 steps that are not important are 1. two photographs taken because that is basicly use less if they will be in the interview anyways.
The fine of 260: because money is not important. weather they r good citizens or not is more important.

1. One important step of the process to becoming a U.S. citizen; we believe is the "Before Applying" step. We think that is one important essential because we(the U.S.) need to make certain that the people we consider allowing to live with us have no intentions of make "the Beautiful" an gly place to spend our lives in. We should make sure that the applicant must be a person of good moral character.
Another step that is extremely important is the 3rd step,Collecting other necessary documents. Because it proves the claims the applicant makes before the 9-Step process. It usually requires:
-a photocopy of both sides of Permanent Resident Card.
-a check or money order for the $260 processing fee.
and sometimes,:
-copies of court or gov. orders provide financial support.
-official records involving criminal charges.
-letter from a church assesting to applicant's good moral character.
etc..
2. One step we think is the least important is Step 2, have two photographs taken. As log as they have the correct information, people change their physical appearance and it really doesn't help in anyway.
And Step 8 isn't very important to us either. People will eventually learn how to speak, write & understand English. It can take a while but it will happe,it doesnt neccesarily have t be then and there.
